Dear County and District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators, and Middle School and Elementary School Principals:

NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR GOVERNORS' FITNESS COUNCILS
FITNESS CENTER GRANT FOR CALIFORNIA

California has teamed up with the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils to reward schools that are focusing on the health and fitness of their students, staff, and community. Together, we will reward three schools that are developing lifelong healthy habits in their students.

Three schools in California, serving students in grades three through eight, will be selected to receive equipment for a state-of-the-art fitness center. The attached nomination form lists priorities, eligibility requirements, qualifying criteria, and facility details for the award program.

The nomination forms are due June 2, 2014. Awards will be made shortly thereafter, and equipment will be installed prior to the 2014–15 school year.

For more information, please contact Kelly McKeag, Program Manager, National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils, by phone at 970-331-6935 or email at kmckeag@acsm.org. You may also visit http://www.natgovfit.org for additional details.

Sincerely,

Edmund G. Brown Jr.
Governor

Tom Torlakson
