State Schools Chief Tom Torlakson Congratulates New State Board
of Education members and Praises Governor on Appointments
SACRAMENTO—State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson today congratulated the seven new State Board of Education members upon their appointment and praised Gov. Jerry Brown for the diversity, talent and knowledge represented by his selections to the Board of Education.
"Gov. Brown is to be congratulated for his quick action on naming his representatives to the State Board of Education and for the impressive diversity and stature of his appointments," Torlakson said.
"I look forward to working with Dr. Carl Anthony Cohn, Bill Honig, Dr. Michael Kirst, Aida Molina, James Ramos, Patricia Ann Rucker and Trish Boyd Williams on behalf of California's 6.2 million students. These seven individuals are experienced educators and passionate advocates for children. My congratulations to each of them," Torlakson stated.
