State Schools Chief Tom Torlakson to Speak at Summer Learning Rally at State Capitol
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson will speak Thursday at the State Capitol during a rally to celebrate National Summer Learning Day. Torlakson, who co-chairs the Summer Matters campaign, will speak about the importance of working to combat summer learning loss among students. He will stress the importance of keeping students engaged in learning during the summer months, as well as remaining physically active and well-nourished so when they go back to school in the fall, they will be ready to learn. Students from around the state will also be on hand to participate in the rally and associated activities.
