Also helps district rollout of distribution of tablets

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson will join Central Unified School District officials and business leaders Wednesday in Fresno to roll out an initiative that will put a tablet in the hands of every K-12 student. Following the news conference, Torlakson will tour Harvest Elementary School to see students using the tablets.

As part of Torlakson's "No Child Left Offline" initiative, he appointed an Education Technology Task Force to recommend ways to bring 21st century tools into California's classrooms to improve teaching and learning. Central Unified Superintendent Michael Berg was part of the 48-member Task Force, whose work resulted in recommendations titled Empowering Learning: California Education Technology Blueprint, 2014 – 2017 (PDF).
