- Layoff Notices: 79 Employees, Including 33 Certified, 38 Classified, 1 Classified Management, 7 Certified Management, Reductions in Teachers and Administrators
- Programs: 10 Percent Cut in High School and Middle School Athletics; Opportunity Programs at High School Cut, Including Job Training, Job/Interview Skills and Preparedness, Work Experience Program, and Student Assistants; Reduce Transportation for High School Music/Band/Choir by 10 Percent
- School Closures: Eastin-Arcola K-8
- Class Size Reduction: Staffing Ratio for Grades Four Through Twelve Classes Increases from 34:1 to 36:1
- Other: Eliminate Physical Education Specialists at the Elementary Level, Reduce Elementary Vice Principals; Reduce Contract Days of Various Site Administrators and Nurses; Cut District Office Staff and Administration; Reduce Grounds Personnel; Reduce Custodial Staff by 24 Percent; Reduce Bus/Transportation Personnel; Reduce District's Reserve Level to 5 percent From 6 Percent. Based on the current 2008-09 budget proposal and the cuts MUSD is being forced to make, the school district is reducing it's full-time staff by 85 employees. That includes both certificated and classified staff. In addition, MUSD immediately implemented a hiring freeze once the Governor released his proposed state budget in mid-January.
