Conejo Valley Unified School District (Modified; 25-Jul-2008)

  • Layoffs: Some Custodial Positions, High School 's Dean of Attendance Position was Cut in Half
  • Programs: Keeping summer school open.
  • Class Sizes: More strict on class sizes, may cancel those without enough students
  • Schools Closed: University and Meadows Schools
  • Other: Counselor Access Reduced at Los Cerritos Middle School and Thousand Oaks High; Cuts to Travel and Conference Budgets, Organization Memberships, Child Nutrition Contributions, Supply Budgets, Secretarial Positions Eliminated; Eliminated 45 High School Coaching Stipends That May Result in Cancellation of Some Freshman Teams; Eliminate Custodial and Groundskeeper Positions, 1 Audiovisual Technician, Construction Supervisor, Clerk Typist. The special education teacher discretionary budget was also reduced by $30,000 and the classified training budget was cut by $5,000.

Moorpark Unified School District (New; 25-Jul-2008)

  • Programs: Eliminate bus service for high school students, saving $150,000.

Oak Park Unified School Distinct

  • Layoff Notices: 40 Teachers

Ojai Unified School District

  • Layoff Notices: 30 Teachers, Already Sent Notices to 15 Percent of Teachers
  • Other: Personnel Reductions of 5 Full-Time Staff, as well as in Management and Support Services, Secretarial, Maintenance, Grounds, Custodial, Warehouse, Nutrition and the High School Career Counselor; Hourly Reductions for Elementary Library Technicians, High School Athletics and Activities Directors; Changes in Nutrition Program; Strict Adherence to Transportation Boundaries; Site Cuts of 10 Percent to all Departments; Possible Cuts to Elementary Physical Education; Increase Nordhoff Food Sales; Lease Downtown District Office for Business Development

Pleasant Valley School District (New; 25-Jul-2008)

  • Programs: May significantly cut bus transportation.

Rio Elementary School District

  • Layoff Notices: 50 Teachers
  • Programs: Fewer Enrichment Courses
  • Class Size Reduction: Increase Class Sizes
  • Other: Freeze Nonessential Expenses, Additional Staff Cuts, Less Instructional Support for Students

Santa Paula Union High School District

  • Programs: Eliminate Summer Academy for Incoming Students, Eliminate Ninth Grade Intervention Classes

Simi Valley Unified School District

  • Other: Possible Loss of $7.2 Million

Ventura Unified School District (New; 25-Jul-2008)

  • Programs: Kept summer school for middle school and high school, but cut classes for about 1,000 younger students.
