Administrator Training

Pursuant to AB 430, provides professional development funds for school administrators using California State Board of Education (SBE) approved training providers.

Another opportunity to apply for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008-09 funding for Administrator Training Program (AB 430) is available. Please be advised that these applications will go before the May 2009 meeting of the State Board of Education for approval and grant awards are anticipated to be released in July 2009. The grant period for these funds is from July 1, 2008 through September 1, 2010. All training and online surveys must be completed by that time. You may request funding from February 5, 2009 to March 13, 2009.

Local Educational Agency (LEAs) Online Funding for FY 2008-09

LEAs, by definition, include districts, and county offices of education. Funding is allocated upon approval from the State Board of Education (SBE) and is contingent upon application requests and state budget availability.

Request for Applications has information on criteria, filing requirements and instructions to the online application. Application Request for SBE Approved Training Providers

Training providers use SBE adopted curriculum to develop administrators who:

  • can establish sound and clear instructional goals;
  • can collaboratively develop data-driven decisions, and be knowledgeable about academic content and effective instructional strategies; and
  • have the skills to lead a school through powerful academic instructional program change.

Training provider applications are accepted on an on-going basis with a six to eight week processing turn around. The SBE will approve training provider applications at the subsequent board meeting. Training Curriculum Content Reviewer/Readers

Applications for content reviewer/reader (DOC; 86KB; 8pp.) are accepted on an on-going basis. The reviewer/reader process ensures that the SBE approved curriculum guidelines and criteria for the ATP are addressed in the training curriculum and training provider application.
