General
California Common Core State Standards-Mathematics Resources
Resources from the CaCCSS-M Task Forces, composed of members of the California Department of Education (CDE), California Math Council, California Mathematics Project, and the Curriculum and Instruction Steering Committee (CISC) of the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA) that professional development providers can use to strengthen teachers’ content knowledge to teach the newly adopted mathematics standards. Topics include number sense, fractions, kindergarten through grade eight modeling, transformational geometry, and high school modeling.
Inside Mathematics

Connected Mathematics Project
Sets of resources, such as problem-centered curriculum, teacher support, and assessment materials, which are student-centered and based upon research, including CMP2, which covers specific grade levels of the CCSSM.
Math Forum
An online resource operated under the Drexel University School of Education that provides resources, materials, and activities for improving mathematics learning, teaching, and communication.
The Parent Handbook for Mathematics in English and translated versions includes information regarding the mathematics curriculum, state standards, statewide assessments, and graduation requirements. In addition, activities and ideas for helping students be successful in mathematics are included.
Recommended Literature List
This searchable list of books supports, students, teachers, and parents in finding books that will engage readers of varying skill levels in history-social science, mathematics, science, visual and performing arts, as well as general literature.
21st Century Skills Math and Information and Communication Technology Literacy Maps
by the Partnership for 21 Century Skills provide examples of how 21st Century Skills can be integrated into core subjects and how other subject areas can link successfully with mathematics.
Information regarding opportunities for face-to-face and online professional development opportunities and statewide and national education conferences.
Common Core State Standards
CDE and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

Task Force.
Common Core Implementation Video Series
A series of videos commissioned by the Hunt Institute and the Council of Chief State School Officers to explain the CCSS in greater breadth and depth. The following videos will take less than 15 minutes total and help various groups, such as educators and parents/guardians, understand and discuss the CCSSM.
- The Math Standards: How They Were Developed and Who was Involved (8:10)
- The Math Standards and the Shifts They Require (1:15)
- Shifts in Math Practice: The Balance Between Skills and Understanding (1:02)
- The Importance of Mathematical Practices (1:03)
Achieve the Core

Illustrative Mathematics
An initiative of the Institute for Mathematics and Education that provides guidance by illustrating the range and types of mathematical work that students experience in a faithful implementation of the CCSSM, and by publishing other tools that support implementation of the standards.
The Mathematics Common Core Toolbox
A site created by the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin and Agile Minds to support districts for the implementation of the CCSSM and includes key visualizations for the standards for mathematical practices and content.
EduCore
A digital tool for educators launched by ASCD and developed by the Shell Centre that supports CCSSM implementation and includes, but is not limited to, classroom-ready formative assessment lessons and videos, webinars, and tools that empower teachers to create their own tasks for students that support engagement and growth.
Mathematics Assessment Project
A project created as a collaborative effort between the University of California, Berkeley and the Shell Centre to design and develop assessment tools to make knowledge and reasoning visible, and to help teachers guide students in how to improve and monitor their progress.
