Spanish Version of CCSS for ELA Now Available
“Common Core en Español,” a joint effort between the San Diego County Office of Education, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and the California Department of Education (CDE), is pleased to announce the availability of the Spanish translation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts, which includes “linguistic augmentation” to ensure the new document goes beyond a word-by-word literal translation to communicate concepts usefully. CCSS Literacy Web Page Update and New CCSS and the Arts Resource
The CDE CCSS Literacy Web page has been updated. Resources on this page are now organized by content area: general, history/social studies, science, and technical subjects. A document by David Coleman, one of the lead writers of the CCSS, has just been posted to this page: Guiding Principles for the Arts: Grades K–12
(PDF). This document elaborates on the relationship between the standards and the arts.
California Spotlight on Contra Costa County Office of Education
The Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) Common Core Web site
contains resource materials, presentations, and information gathered from ongoing professional development in Contra Costa and neighboring counties. The site includes handouts and presentations from the recent San Francisco Bay Area Common Core Summit hosted by CCCOE, as well as links to valuable resources provided by other agencies.
