Khan Academy, Smarter Balanced, and Illustrative Math Collaborate to Provide CCSS Math Resources
Khan Academy’s Common Core math resources have been developed in collaboration with Smarter Balanced, Illustrative Mathematics, and 40 educators to provide thousands of new, interactive math problems fully aligned to every Common Core State Standard (CCSS) for mathematics. Students can work at their own pace through grade-level “missions” and track their progress through personalized dashboards. All problems are accompanied by step-by-step solutions specific to each problem. Successful completion of missions is charted on a progress report on the student’s dashboard while “coaches”—whether teachers, tutors, or parents—can see a student’s progress with access through a class code or coach ID. Learn more about these resources from Khan Academy founder, Sal Kahn, in a recent EdSurge article .
Math Instructional Materials Added to the Online Price List
The mathematics instructional materials programs adopted by the State Board of Education on January 15, 2014, have been posted to the California Department of Education (CDE) online Price List of Adopted Instructional Materials (Price List) Web page. The Price List is a searchable database that includes all components of state-adopted programs, the price (including shipping to any point in California), and various other pieces of information that may be useful to districts interested in piloting or purchasing these materials.
The Price List also includes contact information for the publishers whose programs are on the state-adopted list. Any queries related to these materials, including requests for samples for piloting, should be directed to the appropriate publisher(s).
For additional information regarding the 2014 Mathematics Instructional Materials Adoption, please see the CDE 2014 Mathematics Instructional Materials Web page.
CCSS Implementation Plan and Frequently Asked Questions Revised
The CDE has recently updated the CCSS Systems Implementation Plan for California (PDF) and the CCSS Frequently Asked Questions. The CCSS Systems Implementation Plan is a living document that identifies major phases and activities in the implementation of the CCSS throughout California’s educational system and the CCSS Frequently Asked Questions provide concise information and resources supporting implementation in California. These two resources have been revised to incorporate recent legislation relevant to CCSS implementation including the CCSS Implementation Funds, instructional materials, and assessments. You will find these and many other CCSS implementation resources on the CDE CCSS Web page.
