New CCSS Professional Learning Module Available from the CDE
The California Department of Education (CDE) is pleased to announce that a new professional learning module (PLM), The Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS): A Comprehensive Framework for Implementing the California Common Core State Standards (CA CCSS) is now available online at the Brokers of Expertise California Common Core State Standards (CCSS) PLM Web page . This module is part of the CCSS for California Educators series and was developed by the CDE in collaboration with WestEd. The module provides guidance on the systematic integration of instructional supports to support the learning of all students and provides an overview of MTSS as a framework for designing and organizing system-wide resources, strategies, and practices when implementing the CA CCSS for English language arts and literacy. The State Board of Education (SBE) will address five items related to CCSS systems implementation during its January 15–16, 2014 meeting, including the following topics:
- Update on the Activities of the CDE and SBE Regarding the Implementation of CCSS Systems.
- 2014 Mathematics Adoption of Instructional Materials: Instructional Quality Commission Recommendations.
- Update on Statewide Assessment Transition Activities, including Assessment, Technology, and Data Management.

Content Literacy in History/Social Studies K–5 Professional Learning Module
January 23, 3:30 p.m.
The CDE is pleased to present a webinar on January 23, 2013, for the Content Literacy in History/Social Studies K–5 PLM. The webinar will provide teachers, leaders, and professional learning providers with both an overview of how to use the module and how to facilitate group sessions using module content. The module is part of the CCSS for California Educators series and was developed in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
