Reviews of Electronic Resources for CCSS Alignment

The California Learning Resource Network (CLRN), a CDE project since 1999, reviews a variety of electronic resources for their alignment to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts and mathematics, as well as California Content Standards for other core subjects. CLRN's 6,000 Open Educational Resources (OER) may be browsed by subject, type, standard strand, or standard. Online course (OCR) and supplemental electronic resource (ELR) reviews may be found by searching for specific standards. Each content review addresses three questions for each of the CCSS: whether the complete standard is taught (and if not, which components are missing), whether there is an opportunity for student practice, and whether students are assessed on the standard. All of CLRN's resource reviews may be found on the CLRN Web page [Web page no longer available].

Achieve the Core Redesign External link opens in new window or tab., a Web site provided by Student Achievement Partners—a nonprofit organization founded by the writers of the CCSS—has been redesigned with exciting new features and updated with more high-quality CCSS resources. Visitors to this site will be able to view resources compiled for their specific position, subject, and grade level. On this site you will find lessons, student writing samples, assessment questions, curricular tools, strategies and materials to support all students, and professional development modules and courses. You will also find leadership tools including research and background information as well as parent and community resources. All materials are free for you to “steal.”

Basal and Anthology Alignment Projects Lessons Available

Educators who participate in the Basal and Anthology Alignment Projects are trained to evaluate questions in currently-adopted English language arts textbooks for alignment and write text-dependent materials that require students to respond to questions that require close reading of text. Hundreds of free CCSS-aligned lessons developed through the Basal and Anthology Alignment Projects have been added to the Achieve the Core Web site. Lessons for grades 3–5 and more information regarding the Basal Alignment Project may be found on the Achieve the Core Basal Alignment Project Web page External link opens in new window or tab.. More information regarding the Anthology Alignment Project and lessons for grades 6–10 are available on the Achieve the Core Anthology Alignment Project Web page External link opens in new window or tab..
