Application to Review ELA/ELD Instructional Materials
On March 13, 2014, the State Board of Education (SBE) approved the Instructional Materials Reviewer and Content Review Expert Online Application for the 2015 Primary English Language Arts/English Language Development (ELA/ELD) Instructional Materials Adoption. The SBE and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction are seeking candidates to serve on review panels for the adoption. Panel members will evaluate instructional materials for use in kindergarten and grades one through eight (K–8), inclusive, that are aligned with the California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects and the California English Language Development Standards. Please access the online application on the CDE English Language Arts Instructional Materials Web page.
Common Core and Beyond: A Practicum on Literacy in the Content Areas, Mathematics, Instructional Strategies, and Assessments
This is a reminder about this series of seminars—brought to you by the California Teachers Association (CTA), the California Department of Education (CDE), the Comprehensive Center at WestEd, and the Association of California School Administrators—designed to deepen educator understanding of the CCSS and the Smarter Balanced assessments. Sponsored through a grant provided by the National Education Association, these one-day seminars offer workshops; many provided by classroom practitioners; in the areas of curriculum, technology, literacy across the content areas, and assessment. The next seminar will be held on April 5, 2014, at the Hilton Hotel in Stockton. Please see the attached flyer for more information. [This series has concluded]
