CCSS Publication Versions Now Available

Print versions of the California Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematics and English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects are now available for purchase. You may view PDFs of the documents on the California Department of Education (CDE) CCSS Web page. Details about how to order the publications, including sales tax and shipping and handling fees, are available on the CDE Press Catalog Listings of Publications Web page or by calling toll-free, 1-800-995-4099. The Secondary Literacy Partnership: 2013–14 Webinar Series and Secondary Literacy Summit

“Transitioning to the Common Core State Standards: Spotlight on Instruction, Assessment, and Equity,” a free 6-session Webinar Series, commences on September 12, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. The first webinar, “An Overview for 6th–12th Grade ELA and Content Area Teachers,” will be presented by Sacramento County Office of Education staff. This webinar will highlight topics such as informational text, drawing evidence from sources, and using complex text. The 2013 Secondary Literacy Summit, “Linking Common Core State Standards to Classroom Practice,” will be held on October 25, 2013, at the San Diego County Office of Education. The cost is $25/person and includes a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks. School teams are encouraged to attend this one day conference to begin or continue the collaboration that will lead to increased student achievement in all disciplines and content areas. Smarter Balanced Practice Test Help Desk

On August 1, 2013, Smarter Balanced opened a Help Desk to provide support for the Smarter Balanced Practice Tests. The scheduled days and hours are Monday through Friday, 4 a.m.–7 p.m. (Pacific Time), excluding holidays. You can contact the Help Desk toll-free by phone at 1-855-833-1969 or by e-mail at Questions regarding accessing the practice tests, practice test accommodations, the use and purpose of the practice tests, and technical issues related to taking the practice tests are welcomed and encouraged.

Local Control Funding Formula Special Update
