New CCSS professional Learning Module now available from the CDE
The California Department of Education (CDE) is pleased to announce that the English Language Arts: Writing to Inform, Argue, and Analyze professional learning module (PLM) is now available online on the Brokers of Expertise California Common Core State Standards (CCSS) PLM Web page . This module is part of the CCSS for California Educators series and was developed in collaboration with the University of California Berkeley/California Writing Project. The module is available in two formats: online independent use and on-site blended group facilitation.

SBE CCSS Agenda Items
The State Board of Education (SBE) will address three items on CCSS implementation during its May 8–9, 2013 meeting, including the following topics:
- Update on the activities of the CDE and SBE regarding implementation of the CCSS
- Update on statewide assessment transition and Smarter Balanced Assessment resources and development activities
- 2014 Mathematics Primary Adoption of Instructional Material: appointment of various reviewers and approval of schedule revision, reviewer training materials, and publisher fee reduction request.
- English Language Development Supplemental Instructional Materials Review: reviewer approval.
