Job Description
The Child Nutrition Supervisor I (CNS I) is the first supervisory level in the Child Nutrition series over professionals at the consultant and assistant levels. The CNS I educates, evaluates, supports and assists the CNC’s who plan, prepare, conduct and complete administrative reviews of the Child Nutrition Programs in California. The CNS I evaluate and approve findings from compliance reviews to ensure program integrity. Provide leadership to improve the process and procedures utilized by monitoring review staff to ensure uniformity with all Child Nutrition Programs administered by the California Department of Education. CNS I represent the department at meetings and conferences, interpret regulations, policies, procedures, and standards to staff and sponsors to ensure program integrity. Provide advice, direction and assistance to staff and sponsors on the most difficult and complex child nutrition program components.

Qualifications Assessment Questionnaire
The California civil service selection system is merit-based, and eligibility for appointment is established through a formal examination process. The Child Nutrition Supervisor I examination consists of a Qualifications Assessment Questionnaire (QAQ) that will be used to evaluate your experience, education, and training. The QAQ is the entire examination and will account for 100% of your score. Candidates will receive notification of their score by mail.
