The Education Fiscal Services Consultant (EFSC), with direction from an Education Fiscal Services Administrator, independently performs the more sensitive and complex education fiscal services assignments.

Job Description

The Education Fiscal Services Consultant (EFSC), with direction from an Education Fiscal Services Administrator, independently performs the more sensitive and complex education fiscal services assignments in the areas of fiscal and budgetary policies, practices and procedures related to the administration of state and federal education programs. Incumbents provide technical assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) in all areas of fiscal and business management; provide leadership in the design and modification of budget development policies and processes, expenditure monitoring, accounting, and interim fiscal reporting; provide guidance and oversight in the improvement of financial management practices relating to fiscal solvency; and provide statewide fiscal data to interested parties.

Qualifications Assessment Questionnaire

The California civil service selection system is merit-based, and eligibility for appointment is established through a formal examination process. The Education Fiscal Services Consultant examination consists of a Qualifications Assessment Questionnaire (QAQ) that will be used to evaluate your experience, education, and training. The QAQ is the entire examination and will account for 100% of your score. Candidates will receive notification of their score by mail.

General Instructions/How to apply

To apply for this examination, you must submit a complete application package which includes an Examination and/or Employment Application (STD. 678), the Qualifications Assessment Questionnaire including the Affirmation Statement, and evidence of completion of the required education.
