State Preschool - A Reminder About Allowable Ages

State Preschool Programs have previously received Management Bulletin (MB) 05-07 that describes the allowable ages for participation in State Preschool. On April 3, 2006, Child Development Division (CDD) Director Michael Jett wrote to all State Preschool contractors to remind them about the age requirements for State Preschool. In that letter he stated, “Effective July 2006, the CDD will restore the edit check for allowable ages that strictly corresponds to the age requirements described in MB 05-07.  Beginning with the July 2006 reporting period, agencies will not be able to enter data on children that exceed the allowable age requirements.”  In addition, the letter reminded Program Directors that children who have their third birthday after December 2 must wait until the following fiscal year in order to be enrolled.

Please work with your Program Director if you notice any children in your system whose Child Date of Birth indicates that they are younger or older than the allowable limits.  You will not be able to submit them to the CDMIS because they are not allowed to be enrolled in State Preschool.
