• After School Education and Safety Program
  Provides funds to schools and districts that collaborate with community partners to provide safe and educationally enriching alternatives for children and youths during nonschool hours.
• Conference Call Information
  Provides archived information on conference calls conducted by the Child Development Division concerning the Early Learning field.
• No Child Left Behind
  The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, the revised Elementary and Secondary Education Act, are new requirements and incentives designed to increase student and school performance.
• The law sets deadlines for states to expand the scope and frequency of student testing, revamp their accountability systems and guarantee that every teacher is qualified in their subject area. NCLB requires states to make demonstrable annual progress in raising the percentage of students proficient in reading and math, and in narrowing the test-score gap between advantaged and disadvantaged students.

  Learn more about how the Child and Adult Care Food Program can be integrated into a public and private child care center, day care home, adult day care center, or homeless shelter.
• Resource & Referral County Listing
  Resource and Referral agencies and programs, funded by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division, are located in every county in the state. They help families find child care that best meets their needs, recruit and train child care providers, and collect data from parents and child care providers.
• California Early Learning Quality Improvement System
  The California Early Learning Quality Improvement System (CAEL QIS) Advisory Committee was established out of a broad legislative partnership to help create a framework of improving the quality of early learning and care programs for children from birth to five years old. Development of the quality improvement system considered research, policies, program information, and best practices at the national, state, and local levels.
