With the closing of all four California Charter Academy (CCA) schools (charter school numbers: Snowline 262, Orange 297, Snowline Affiliates 377, and Oro Grande 387), it is the California Department of Education's (CDE) highest priority to assist displaced students and their families in finding placement at other schools as quickly as possible. In an effort to minimize the disruption to student's education, the CDE is providing access to a number of important resources to assist parents and students in finding a new school.

Locating New Schools
Parents of students enrolled in any of the California Charter Academy schools at the time of closure should:
- Check immediately with their local district of residence to enroll their students this fall in a local public school.
- Investigate other charter school programs serving their community to identify the best option for the student(s).
CCA Investigative Audit
The California Department of Education, in conjunction with the county offices of education in Orange County and San Bernardino County, contracted with the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) and MGT of America to conduct an investigative audit of the business operations of the California Charter Academy.
County Superintendent's Correspondence
The California Department of Education has worked with the superintendents of the counties affected by the CCA closure to identify by residence how many students are being displaced. With the cooperation of California Charter Academy school administrators, all families of CCA students will receive correspondence from county superintendents advising them of their options and directing them to the appropriate districts and schools.
Charter School Organization Support for Former CCA Students and Staff
The California Department of Education has contacted the two largest charter school associations in California for their technical support in providing charter school referrals and assistance to displaced students and their families. In addition, they may also provide assistance to displaced teachers, administrators, and other employees of the California Charter Academy.
- The California Charter Schools Association (CCSA), a membership and professional organization serving the state's nearly 500 public charter schools and approximately 170,000 charter school students in California, is working with various nearby charter schools to take in some of the students who have been displaced due to CCA's closure. Parents or students can contact the California Charter Schools Association Help Desk toll-free at (866) 415-2272 or e-mail at info@charterassociation.org or visit the CCSA web site (Outside Source).
- The Charter Schools Development Center (CSDC) provides technical assistance, training, and resources to charter school developers, operators, parents, and students. The CSDC has committed to provide whatever assistance it can to the students, parents, and employees at charter school sites throughout the state who have been displaced by the CCA school closures. For further information, please visit the CSDC Web site (Outside Source).
CCA Contractors, Vendors, Landlords, and Creditors
Records of the California Charter Academy schools are currently protected under a subpoena issued by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Contractors, vendors, landlords, and other creditors should take precautions not to destroy or dispose of records covered under this subpoena.
