Apportionment & Categorical Funding GuidanceNon-regulatory guidance from CDE regarding charter school apportionment and categorical funding.
- Principal Apportionments
Assembly Bill 97 (Chapter 47, Statutes of 2013), as amended by Senate Bill (SB) 91 (Chapter 49, Statutes of 2013) and SB 97 (Chapter 357, Statutes of 2013), established the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which represents a significant change in how California's kindergarten through grade twelve (K-12) local educational agencies (LEAs), including county offices of education, school districts, and charter schools, are funded. While the new LCFF became effective July 1, 2013, the CDE has not yet incorporated all of the LCFF provisions into its apportionment systems. For more information on LCFF, visit Local Control Funding Formula.
- Advance Apportionments
New and expanding charter schools may receive advance apportionments through the Pupil Estimates for New or Significantly Expanding Charters (PENSEC) and Charter School 20 Day Attendance Report process. For more information on this process, visit CS Special Advance Apportionment, FY 2014-15.
