Assembly Bill 124 (Fuentes, Chapter 605, Statutes of 2011) directed the State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI) convene a panel of English language development experts in English language instruction, curriculum, and assessment to assist in the update, revise, and align the English Language Development (ELD) standards with state board-approved academic content standards for English language arts.
