Title III Accountabilty Requirements 2009

Information and resources for LEAs that do not meet Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives.

On September 25, 2009, local educational agencies (LEA) and consortium leads subject to Title I, Title II, and Title III accountability requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) were notified of their improvement status. If a Title III LEA or consortia has not met one or more of the three Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs) in any year, it must inform the parents of all English learners in the LEA or the consortia as a whole, that the AMAOs have not been met. This notification should be provided within 30 days after the public release of the Title III Accountability Progress Report, which was released September 15, 2009.

The LEA or consortia is subject to Title III accountability requirements based on the number of years missed, as defined in the ESEA, Section 3122.
