Local Educational Agencies in Title III Year 4

Information for local educational agencies identified as Title III Year 4.

A local educational agency (LEA), county office of education (COE), direct-funded charter school, or consortia that fails to meet all Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs) for four consecutive years is identified as Title III Year 4 and is subject to Title III accountability requirements listed below.

2010-11 Title III Accountability Requirements
  • By October 13, 2010:
    • Notify parents of English learners that the LEA, COE, direct-funded charter school, or consortia did not meet Title III AMAOs. Sample letters in English, Spanish, and other languages are available on the California Department of Education (CDE) Title III Accountability Requirements Web page.
  • By March 8, 2011:
    • Notify parents of English learners that the LEA, COE, direct-funded charter school, or consortia did not meet Title III AMAOs for those LEAs identified on the February 8, 2011 accountability report update. Sample letters in English, Spanish, and other languages are available on the Title III Accountability Requirements Web page.
  • Participate in Title III Year 4 technical assistance
  • The Title III Regional County Office of Education Lead will work with the LEA, COE, direct-funded charter school, or consortia to complete the online Title III Year 4 Action Plan.
  • Complete an Online Action Plan Assurances Form that must contain original signatures from the local governing board president, the district superintendent and the Title III English Learner Coordinator/Director. The Online Action Plan Assurances Form can be found in the Title III Year 4 Guidance Document (DOC) at the CDE Title III Accountability Requirements web page. Be sure to keep the original copy of the completed.
  • Submit an electronic copy of the Action Plan as a Microsoft Word document by January 13, 2011 to:
  • Implement the Title III Year 4 Online Action Plan expeditiously.
  • Monitor progress implementing the Online Action Plan.
