High-Risk Youth & Public Safety

Serves two youth populations on probation: first-time offenders and transitioning high-risk youth.

The High-Risk Youth Education and Public Safety Program provides after-school programming for students who have been incarcerated or are first-time offenders. The Transitioning High-Risk Youth Program serves youths who have had a commitment to a youth facility for six months or more and have served at least 90 days of incarceration. The First-Time Offender Program serves youths fifteen years of age or younger, who have been placed on probation for their first offense.

Funding for this program was discontinued as of the 2013-14 fiscal year and is now part of the Local Control Funding Formula.
