What is the AB 2326 Task Force?
This task force was created by Assembly Bill 2326
(Frommer) to provide advice to the State Board of Education and
Superintendent of Public Instruction on establishing reading standards
for students in grades K-12 who use Braille.
To whom does the AB 2326 Task Force report?
The task force reported to the Governor and to
the education committees of the Assembly and the Senate by June
30, 2004.
Who is on the AB 2326 Task Force?
The task force was composed of 12 individuals
who were nominated by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction
and appointed by the State Board of Education and represent the
following groups:
- parents of visually impaired pupils
- teachers of visually impaired pupils
- researchers in the field of visual impairment
- Braille experts
- groups that advocate for teaching of and use of Braille
- groups that advocate for the visually impaired
- special education administrators and educators knowledgeable
about the teaching of reading

When and where does the AB 2326 Task Force meet?
The task force met seven times during the 2003-2004
school year at the California Department of Education in Sacramento.
The meeting dates were August 13, September 19, November 7, and
December 5, 2003 and January 23, February 20, March 26 and April
23, 2004. All meetings were open to the public pursuant to the
