WorkAbility I Committees

Goals, activities, contact information and meeting notices.
  • Business, Education, Labor (BEL)
    • promote partnerships between business, education, and labor for WorkAbility I Programs at local, regional, and state level
    • the committee is divided into two sub-committees: regions in the south produce the BEL newsletter, and northern regions produce the handbook A Guide to Forming Strategic Alliances

  • Family Transition Network
    • provide information, resources, training, and support to parents, students, educators and agency staff regarding academic achievement, employment, transition, and disability awareness for with young people with special needs
    • publish a bi-annual newsletter that will provide pertinent information on a wide range of topics

  • Human Support Services
    • educate and promote self-reliance in utilizing Human Support Resources in the community
    • investigate, promote and provide input to the California Department of Education/WorkAbility I statewide data-base which can be utilized at local levels, focusing on resources for transition services
    • continue inservice on current trends in transition with education staff, across agencies, students/parents
    • research and disseminate model practices of interagency collaborative efforts, which promote a more efficient, cost effective, delivery system

    • provides information, resources, training, and support to parents, students and educators regarding wage and labor laws as well as safety on the workplace
    • provides respondes to frequently asked questions regarding Minimum Wage, Work Permits, Labor Laws, Rest and Meal periods
    • publishes student, parent, and supervisor handbooks
    • provides in-service on current wage, labor and safety issues
    • researches and disseminates model practices of worksite placement documents which promote efficient and safe program delivery
