2006 AYP Criteria Summary

Summary of school, district, and subgroup criteria for 2006 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
The following information about the 2006 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) target criteria apply to most schools, local educational agencies (LEAs)1, and subgroups. More detailed information may be found in the 2006 Adequate Yearly Progress Report Information Guide.

2006 AYP Targets Standard Criteria

These criteria apply to schools, LEAs, and numerically significant subgroups2
that have at least 100 students enrolled on the first day of testing and/or at least 100 valid scores.
Subgroups are excluded from requirements 3 and 4.

Acronyms
Footnotes

1A local educational agency (LEA) is a school district or county office of education.

2For the Participation Rate (Requirement 1), a subgroup is numerically significant if it has 100 or more students enrolled on the first day of testing or 50 or more students enrolled on the first day of testing who make up at least 15 percent of the total population. For the Percent Proficient (Requirement 2), a subgroup is numerically significant if it has 100 or more students with valid test scores or 50 or more students with valid test scores who make up at least 15 percent of the total valid scores. Note: A school or LEA with fewer than 100 students enrolled on the first day of testing or fewer than 100 valid scores has no numerically significant subgroups for that requirement.

3If no graduation rate is available or the primary mission of the school is to return students to the regular classroom in a comprehensive high school, an alternate method is used.

4More information about the Confidence Interval Adjusted AMO Table may be found on page 37 of the 2006 Adequate Yearly Progress Report Information Guide. For numerically significant subgroups with 51-99 valid scores, the standard criteria are used for AMOs.
