CAHSEE Results by Student Group

Data element definitions and sources for the 2006-07 School Accountability Report Card (SARC).

Specific Requirements

The California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) is primarily used as a graduation requirement in California, but the results of this exam are also used to determine Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for high schools, as required by the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law. The CAHSEE has an English-language arts section and a mathematics section. For purposes of calculating AYP, three performance levels were set: Advanced, Proficient, and Not Proficient.

Public Law 107-110 Section 1111 (h)(2)(B)

Definitions

For the most recent testing period:

Data are provided by student group indicating the percent of students, by group, achieving at each performance level in English-language arts and mathematics separately for the most recent testing period.

Guidelines and Data Sources

Data on English-language arts and mathematics is provided by performance level and is required to be included in reports prepared in the 2007-08 school year.

Data are reported from the CAHSEE test results by performance levels and are not available because they are not published anywhere else.

Note: Scores are not shown when the number of students tested is 10 or less, either because the number of students in this category is too small for statistical accuracy, or to protect student privacy. In no case shall any group score be reported that would deliberately or inadvertently make public the score or performance of any individual student.

Data provided by the CDE.
