Instructions for Downloading SARC Data Files

System requirements and downloading instructions for School Accountability Report Card (SARC) data files.

NOTE: It is possible for electronic files to become corrupted during the downloading process. Once you have downloaded the file to your work station, please verify the data by checking it against the internet report data.

Downloading Instructions for PC Users
  1. Select the "SARC Data File" for the appropriate year.
  2. Save the compressed statewide data file to your workstation or pc.
  3. Uncompress the file. Each statewide data file has been compressed using WinZip 7.0 and will require compression software to uncompress the file. An evaluation copy of WinZip is available at no cost at from WinZip [http://www.winzip.com] (Outside Source).

  1. Select the "SARC Data File" for the appropriate year.
  2. Save the compressed statewide data file to your workstation or pc.
  3. Uncompress the file. Each statewide data file has been compressed using Winzip 7.0 and will require compression software to uncompress the file. An evaluation copy of Stuffit Expander is available at no cost from MySmithMicro [http://www.stuffit.com/win/expander/index.html] (Outside Source).
Using Stuffit Expander

The following instructions apply to Stuffit Expander. If you have other uncompression software the procedures are similar.

  1. Open Stuffit Expander.
  2. From the application menu select File-Expand.
  3. From the dialogue box select the API data file and the destination folder.
  4. Select and click on the Expand button.
  5. Open the appropriate software application. You may have to increase the amount of memory allocated to the application software.
  6. Select File-Open from the application menu.
  7. Open the List files of Type drop-down box and select "ALL FILES". Open the data file.
