Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Provider

California State Board of Education Approved Providers

The page contains a list with brief descriptions of California State Board of Education-approved supplemental educational services (SES) providers. The following is an updated list of approved Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Providers for the 2007-08 school year. Of those listed, 18 providers were approved in 2006 and will remain approved until June 30, 2008. The remainder were approved in May, 2007 and will retain approval status until June 30, 2009. Provider approval will remain in force unless a provider is terminated from the list for cause (Section 13075.4 of the Title 5 Regulations) or unless a provider requests removal from the list. Please note that other entities may be approved and added to the list at a later time.

Organizations submit an application to the California Department of Education (CDE) to become an SES provider, as defined in the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, Title I, Part A, Section 1116(e). Those who meet the quality requirements specified under the California Title 5 Regulations for the SES program are recommended to and approved by the State Board of Education.

SES focuses on supplemental instruction or tutoring in English-language arts and/or mathematics for eligible students in Title I Program Improvement (PI) schools. Schools in Year two and beyond of PI are required to offer SES. The SES program augments the PI schools’ programs of instruction to help eligible students meet California’s state content standards.

For more information about how to become a SES provider, please contact the Title I Policy and Partnerships Office at 916-319-0854 or go to our Web site for the SES provider application at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/ti/supplemental.asp.
