2006-07 Ongoing Program Self-Evaluation Tools

Guidance on creating and maintaining compliant categorical programs.

The Categorical Program Monitoring OPSETs are designed to assist local educational agencies (LEAs) in creating and maintaining compliant state and federal categorical programs. Each OPSET is organized around the same seven dimensions as the CPM Instrument to help an LEA answer the question: "What must a program do to be considered compliant under this program dimension?"

There are four major sections within each dimension:

  • Synthesis of Requirements is a distillation of all core and supporting items from the CPM instrument for this dimension. It also includes a cohesive description of compliance requirements for all the separate items from the program instrument.
  • Core and Supporting Items lists the core and supporting items as they appear in the program instrument.
  • Examples of Evidence provides examples of objective evidence (documents, interview prompts, observations) to assist LEAs in demonstrating compliance for items in the CPM Instrument.
  • Resources contains references to documents, reports, Web sites, centers, and other resources that may assist the LEA in the implementation of this program.
