Dear Select County and District Superintendents and Charter School Administrators:
NOTIFICATION OF LOCAL EDUCATIONAL AGENCIES SELECTED FOR 2012–13 SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT GRANT ON-SITE MONITORING REVIEW
Your local educational agency (LEA) has been selected for the 2012–13 School Improvement Grant (SIG) on-site monitoring review. The California Department of Education (CDE) is responsible for ensuring that SIG funds are awarded to LEAs and are used by LEAs in accordance with the statutory requirements and the SIG final requirements. This requires the CDE to ensure that the SIG funds it awards to an LEA are used to implement one of the four school intervention models in each school the LEA commits to serve. Fulfilling this responsibility includes monitoring implementation through on-site visits.
The tentative schedule for on-site reviews is September 2012 through May 2013. The program requirements that will be monitored will be available later this summer on the CDE On-site Reviews Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/cr/sig.asp.
Following the release of the notification letter, CDE staff will be in contact with your designated staff to coordinate the on-site review and discuss the preparation for the review, including uploading documents and evidence of compliance into the California Accountability and Improvement System. For additional information and resources, please visit the CDE On-site Reviews Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/cr/sig.asp. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the School Turnaround Office by phone at 916-319-0833 or by e-mail at RCSO@cde.ca.gov.
