Exit Criteria for II/USP

A description of the conditions under which a school can exit the Immediate Intervention/Underperforming Schools Program.

After participating in the II/USP Program for the first two funded implementation years, a school will fall under one of three categories:

  1. If Academic Performance Index (API) growth targets are met for two years or decile six or above is achieved a school will exit II/USP.

  2. Schools not making growth targets each year that have failed to show significant growth become state-monitored.
  • A school has three years, once it is identified as state-monitored, to make significant growth for two consecutive years, or achieve decile rank six or above in any year and exit II/USP.
  1. If significant growth is met in either of the two II/USP implementation years, a school becomes under watch. Schools under watch are reviewed annually to determine their status in the program, and they will fall under one of the following three conditions:
  • Remain under watch if significant growth is made.

  • Become state-monitored if significant growth is not met in any given year (after the two implementation years):

    • A school has three years once they are identified as state-monitored to make significant growth for two consecutive years, or achieve decile rank six or above in any year and exit II/USP.

  • Exit II/USP if all API Growth targets are met for one year or if decile rank six is achieved.
