Information regarding the background, purpose and funding is provided about this college preparatory program for economically disadvantaged and underachieving students.

Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) (Outside Source)
This site addresses all aspects of effective teaching and learning, such as professional development, educational leadership, and capacity building.

Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) (Outside Source)
Jointly administered by CDE and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing this program provides funding to local education agencies to develop and implement teacher induction programs.

California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP)
A regional technical assistance program funded by CDE to promote effective use of technology in teaching, learning, and overall school administration based upon local needs.

CDE Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources
Curriculum frameworks are the blueprints for implementing the content standards for grades K-12 as adopted by the California State Board of Education. Frameworks are developed by the Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission, which also reviews and recommends textbooks and other instructional materials to be adopted by the State Board.

Phi Delta Kappa International (Outside Source)
This international association for professional educators promotes quality education through innovative programs, insights for professional development, and relevant research as it relates to school reform.

Supplemental Educational Services (SES)
Under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, parents have the option to select supplemental educational services, which provide additional academic instruction outside the regular school day for eligible students. A list of approved providers as well as the application for potential providers is maintained at this site.

The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse (Outside Source)
The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse provides resources for curriculum, professional development, and other information on K-12 mathematics and science teaching and learning.

The National Center for Improving Student Learning and Achievement in Mathematics & Science (Outside Source)
This center is conducting a national research program to reform K-12 mathematics and science instruction. Its site contains descriptions and publications of its research, as well as other resources and links.

The National Reading Panel (Outside Source)
This panel spent two years reviewing research-based knowledge about reading instruction, work that culminated in The Report of the National Reading Panel: Teaching Children to Read (2000). Better known as the "Green Book," this report sets the standard for education research.

The Partnership for Reading (Outside Source)
The National Institute for Literacy is dedicated to providing information about the effective teaching of reading.
