WestEd , in collaboration with the California Department of Education, compiled a research database of schools participating in California's II/USP and CSR programs that are demonstrating success in improving student achievement. Twelve schools from Cohort 3 of the II/USP were selected to make presentations in the breakout sessions at the On the Right Track 3 Symposium, March 15-16, 2005.

The profiles of schools named above provide information on each of the featured schools, including school statistics, student demographic data, a description of the school's II/USP or CSR model or plan, and the three most important factors that each school identified as helping it move ahead. Data were compiled from various sources, including the online resources EdData and DataQuest, a school-level survey administered to selected schools in fall 2004, school-level end-of-year reports (FY 2003-2004), and follow-up telephone conversations with school principals.1
