WestEd, in collaboration with the California Department of Education (CDE), compiled a research database of schools and districts that were high priority (low performing) either due to being Program Improvement, or receiving HPSG, II/USP, or CSR funding but have been demonstrating success in improving student achievement. From these schools and districts, nine schools and three districts were selected to present during the On the Right Track 5 Symposium, September 30-October 2, 2007.
The profiles of the schools and districts named above provide information about the school or district such as statistics, demographic data, and a written description of the school or district including the most important factors that each identified as helping it move forward. Data were complied from various sources including the CDE, EdData, DataQuest, a school and district survey compiled by WestEd, and follow-up telephone conversations with principals and superintendents.1
