Aiming High Toolkit
The Aiming High toolkit is a how-to document for implementing a standards-based educational system. The document helps to place standards-based education in the context of California's accountability system that includes state standards and local outcomes. The document's focus is to guide schools in "doing the right things" and "doing things right." Elementary and middle grades publications are also available.

California's Healthy Start initiative provides funding to establish local systems of school and community integrated services that help students make significant academic gains.

The REL Network Web site provides quick access to education research and development through the national network of 10 regional educational laboratories.

Taking Center Stage--Act II (TCSII)
This is a Web-based "one-stop shop" for middle grades educators. All materials presented through this innovative portal center on 12 recommendations for middle grades success. The portal includes over 1,000 pages of text about effective middle grades strategies, as well as videos of successful practices, links to research and resources, and quick connections to middle grades organizations and events.

Formerly known as the National Clearinghouse for Comprehensive School Reform, this site houses a variety of information, tools, guides, and links to assist schools and school districts contemplating or engaging in comprehensive school reform and school improvement. In addition, this site offers online technical assistance features such as frequently asked questions (FAQs), facilitated discussions, online workshops, and self-study modules.

This is a national resource providing contacts, publications, planning, implementation, evaluation, and information about models.

California Comprehensive Center (CA CC) - WestEd External link opens in new window or tab.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the CAC is a part of a national network of organizations providing technical assistance and information nationwide. The CAC focuses on two priorities, as required by Elementary and Secondary Education Act: assisting Title I schoolwide programs and helping local educational agencies (and schools funded by the Bureau of Indian Affairs) that have the highest percentages or numbers of children in poverty.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a five-year, $18.5 million contract to a special joint venture to develop a national What Works Clearinghouse, which will summarize evidence on the effectiveness of different programs, products, and strategies to enhance academic achievement and other important educational outcomes.
