Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility information for the Classified School Employee of the Year (CSEY) Program.
Minimum Qualifications

Eligibility to the 2008 Classified School Employee of the Year Program is limited to candidates who are successful as finalists in their local county competitions and meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Current school employees in California public preschool through grade twelve schools, including charter schools, district offices, and county offices of education

  • Rank and file employees, not in a management or supervisory position

  • Minimum of five years of service in nomination category, with no minimum FTE

  • Nomination and application must be submitted by the county office of education
Nomination Categories

Nominations will be accepted for staff in the following six categories:

  • Child Nutrition
    The work of this candidate must be directly related to food handling and/or preparation.
    • Example: cook

  • Maintenance and Operations
    The work of this candidate must be directly related to maintenance services or operations services.
    • Examples: electrician, audio-visual repair, custodian, groundskeeper

  • Transportation
    The work of this candidate must be directly related to student transportation.
    • Example: bus driver

  • Para-Educator
    The work of this candidate must provide direct instructional services to students.
    • Example: classroom assistant

  • Office and Technical Services
    The work of this candidate must be directly related to clerical, secretarial, or technological duties.
    • Examples: secretary, accountant, programmer, network engineer

  • Support Services and Security
    The work of this candidate must be directly related to security of students and/or property or work which has duties that are not covered under any of the other categories.
    • Examples: campus security, nurse
