2007 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Report and 2007 Growth Academic Performance Index (API) Report posted on the CDE Web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/ay/.	Late August
Informational workshops for County Coordinators conducted by CDE.	Early September
2008 Distinguished School eligibility criteria, derived from AYP and API measures, posted on the California School Recognition Program (CSRP) Web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/sr/cs/.	Mid September
List of schools eligible to apply posted on the CSRP Web site.	Mid September
2008 California Distinguished School program announcement letter from State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell, mailed to principals of elementary schools and to district and county superintendents.	Late September
2008 Distinguished Elementary School Applications and Rubrics for Scoring posted on the CSRP Web site.	Late September
Technical assistance workshops for eligible schools conducted by county offices of education (COEs).	October
Deadline for completing Intention to Submit Application form via the CDE Web site.	November 6
Postmark deadline for submission of 2008 Distinguished Elementary School Applications.	December 3
Legal compliance/complaint screening of applicant schools conducted by the CDE.	Mid December
Evaluation of applications conducted by local educators under the direction of the CDE.	January 7-18
Revised 2007 AYP release, including data corrections, posted on the CDE Web site.	Mid January
Preliminary ranking of Distinguished Elementary School nominees. Recommendations and related school data reviewed by the CDE and county superintendents. List of nominees submitted to the State Superintendent O'Connell for approval.	Early February
COEs notified of final evaluation results. COEs coordinate the preliminary notification of districts and schools.	Late February
Site validations conducted by COEs and the CDE.	February-March
2007 Base API Report posted on the CDE Web site.	Early March
