Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about the Governor's Performance Awards Program.
- What is the Governor's Performance Awards (GPA) Program?
The GPA is a competitive program based on the Academic Performance
Index (API). It is open to any school that has valid APIs for
the current and preceding year. This award program is intended
for school-wide usage and is awarded on a per-pupil basis.
- How much money is in the GPA program?
The program is not funded in the current year.
- How can I spend the Governor's Performance Awards program
money?
The funds are intended for school-wide use. According to the State
Board of Education criteria adopted on July 12, 2000, "use of
funds at schools should be decided by existing site governance
team/school wide council representing major stakeholders; ratified
by the local school board."
- Why is my school not on the
eligible list?
A school may not appear on the list for
a variety of reasons, including not meeting the eligibility criteria.
Other reasons might include data irregularities, the school's
proportion of parental waivers exceeded 15 percent, or student
population changes that invalidated the school's API.
