*See Student Option to Participate in 2011–12 table below for a list of which students may be eligible to participate in each administration.

During the 2011–12 school year, grade ten, eleven, and twelve students, as well as adult students, are eligible to take the CAHSEE unless they have previously passed the examination. No student who has previously passed the CAHSEE is eligible to retake the examination. Students only retake the part(s) of the CAHSEE not passed. Only grade twelve and adult students may be tested during the July administration.

Individual student results are returned to school districts approximately seven to eight weeks after the examination materials are received by the contractor for scoring. Therefore, student results from the May 2012 administration of the CAHSEE will arrive in school districts in early July.

School districts that wish to have student results back before Spring graduation ceremonies should not select the May 2012 administration option for grade twelve and adult students. School districts will be required to acknowledge this prior to ordering test materials for the May 2012 administration.
