CAHSEE Intervention Series - Issue 1

Issue 1 of the California High School Exit Exam Intervention Series.

Issue 1
February 2007

Introduction to the CAHSEE Series

The Standards and Assessment Division of the California Department of Education (CDE) is beginning a publication series designed to help students pass the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). The series will focus on helping intervention and classroom teachers provide students opportunities to learn the skills within the content standards that are needed to pass the CAHSEE.

The series will focus on informing teachers and administrators of the resources available from the CDE and offer strategies on how to use these resources to help students acquire the skills necessary to pass the CAHSEE. The series will include, but will not be limited to the following topics:

  • Understanding the CAHSEE Intervention Process
  • How to Use the CAHSEE Blueprints to Prepare Students to be Successful
  • Using the CAHSEE Released Test Questions to Prepare Students
  • How to Use the CAHSEE Study Guides Effectively

New issues of the CAHSEE Series will be released throughout the school year. These issues will be sent electronically to CAHSEE school district test coordinators for distribution. This series might be of interest to principals, high school and middle school teachers, curriculum resource specialists (math and English-language arts), and others who work with students at risk of not passing the CAHSEE. Issues also will be posted on the CDE CAHSEE Web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/resources.asp.

Compendium of CAHSEE Interventions

Examples of CAHSEE intervention models and programs from California school districts and other educational institutions are posted online for school personnel to view. You may access these by visiting the CDE CAHSEE Intervention Compendium* Web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/cahseematrix.asp.

If you have a CAHSEE intervention model or program that has proven to be successful locally in helping students pass the CAHSEE, please complete the submission form located on the Compendium Web site and send it to the High School Exit Exam Office. CDE will consider your model or program for inclusion.

*The CDE does not endorse any of these programs or models, nor does it endorse any commercial products used in them.
