Organization Name:

Riverside County Office of Education

Remediation Program Title:

Riverside County CAHSEE Excellence Program (RCCEP)

Subject Matter:

Math and English-Language Arts

Abstract:

The Riverside County CAHSEE Excellence Program (RCCEP) is a county-level initiative, incorporating a universal assistance model designed to provide tools, assistance, and research in order to assist school districts in helping students achieve at the highest levels on the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). RCCEP addresses both the English-language arts (ELA) and math portions of the CAHSEE.

Two approaches are used in the RCCEP model: (1) a short-range remediation program for students who have taken but not passed the CAHSEE; and (2) a long-range remediation program that diagnoses and prepares students for the CAHSEE beginning in the sixth grade and continuing until the census administration in the tenth grade.

RCCEP is composed of the following elements:

  • CAHSEE Tools: the CAHSEE Diagnostic Tool (CDT) and CAHSEE Management Tool (CMT)
  • Professional Development: teaching the use of tools, research, and best practices
  • CAHSEE Information Center: provides rapid information dissemination, troubleshooting, assistance, and hotline services
Target Audience:

All students preparing for the CAHSEE
All CAHSEE non-passers

Typical Instructional Setting:

RCCEP operates as a universal assistance model. As such, any possible setting may be used, including individual or small group tutoring, or classroom level instruction.

Diagnostic Assessment Used:

RCCEP provides its own CAHSEE Diagnostic Tool (CDT) for diagnostic assessment of student progress in ELA and math content standards.

Curriculum Used:

The RCCEP uses CAHSEE study guides, provided by CDE, as well as RCCEP tutorials for each CAHSEE Standard.
