Abstract:
ELA:

The ELA parallel classes are supplemental English classes taken in addition to the required grade-level English class and in lieu of an elective. Curriculum is based on content standards tested on the CAHSEE. Tenth graders are placed in these classes if they are in danger of not passing the CAHSEE (based on a Far below Basic score on the ELA California Standards Test in ninth grade and/or are Resource Specialist Program students). Eleventh and twelfth graders are placed in the class if they did not pass the ELA portion of the CAHSEE. One hundred percent of the district’s non-passing seniors are in a parallel class. Tenth and eleventh graders are enrolled based on seats available in each site’s master schedule.

Math:

The math parallel classes are supplemental math classes taken in addition to the required math sequence and in lieu of an elective class. Curriculum is based on CAHSEE standards. Eleventh and twelfth graders are placed in the class if they did not pass the math portion of the CAHSEE. One hundred percent of the district’s non-passing seniors are in a parallel math class. Eleventh graders are enrolled based on seats available in each site’s master schedule.

Diagnostic Assessment Used:
