PFT Assessment Notes (April 2008)

April 2008 edition of the Standards and Assessment Division Notes for the Physical Fitness Test.

Reporting Deadline

The deadline for districts to submit their 2007-08 physical fitness data files to the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) contractor, Educational Data Systems (EDS), is June 30, 2008.

Reporting Options

The EDS Web site (Outside Source), used for reporting PFT results, is now available. This Web site provides several options for districts to submit their annual PFT results, including their school level information. Options include online data entry, data file uploads, and mailing a CD or floppy disk. This Web site also provides file formats for an ASCII text file, as well as templates in MS Excel or MS Access. The file format templates that are provided must be used in the upload of Excel or MS Access data files. However, if you are uploading or mailing an ASCII text file, please make sure that the file follows the ASCII file format provided on the Web page. When mailing a CD or floppy disk to EDS, the district should complete the District Contact Record (Outside Source). For security reasons, districts must not e-mail the PFT student results to EDS.

To access the online data entry or the upload site, the PFT Coordinator must use the assigned password. If the district has a new PFT Coordinator or a change of e-mail address, then the coordinator contact survey form found on EDS’ Web site must be completed and faxed to the number on the form.

In addition, school districts can contract with one of several outside agencies to perform scanning and data-entry services.

Additional Information:

If you have any questions regarding data submission, please refer to the “2008 PFT Preparation Manual for Testing and Reporting” found on the Physical Fitness Testing Web page. If you still have a question regarding data submission, contact Maryse Doss at EDS at 1-800-532-4424 or by e-mail at fitness@eddata.com. Please include your district name and district code with all inquiries.
