New Digital Library Playlist—Supporting English Learners
The California Department of Education (CDE) announces a new playlist to support teaching and learning for students who are English learners! Available on the CDE’s Digital Library Playlists Web page and in the Smarter Balanced Digital Library (Digital Library account required), the Supporting English Learners playlist includes links to a variety of resources that promote the development of English language proficiency, including:
- Academic articles
- Professional presentations and videos
- Classroom-ready materials
The resources offer a breadth of support strategies, results from academic studies, and models of instructional approaches. Content includes material from the Stanford University Graduate School of Education, the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Learning, the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, and local educational agency (LEA) instructional coaches. This playlist joins the five others currently available in the Professional Learning Series, a rich offering of professional materials collected to support LEAs as they strive to develop best practices in teaching and learning. Explore this new series, along with the companion Instructional Learning Series, with local educators and district staff.
