Revised Test Variations Matrix
The California Department of Education (CDE) has recently updated the Testing Variations, Accommodations and Modifications Matrix. The main change is that the English Learner testing variation matrix is now a separate document from the Matrix of Test Variations, Accommodations and Modifications for Administration of Statewide Assessments, October 2007 (Matrix 1). The English learner testing variation, accommodation and modification matrix can be found at the following CAHSEE Accommodations and Modifications Web page.
Grade Twelve Students
The 2007-08 state budget allowed for seniors to take the CAHSEE up to five times this year. Next year’s budget has not been finalized; therefore, it remains unclear if next year’s grade twelve students will be afforded the opportunity to take the CAHSEE up to five times.
2006-07 Apportionment Information Report Waiver Requests
If a district or charter school did not return a signed 2006-07 CAHSEE Apportionment Information Report to the CDE by the December31, 2007, deadline, the district or charter school may apply for a waiver of the deadline to be approved by the State Board of Education (SBE). The CDE cannot release payment of the apportionment funding for late reports without a waiver approved by the SBE. Click on the link provided to find the State Testing Apportionment Information Report Waiver form (Revised 19-Mar-2007; DOC; 62KB; 1p.). The general waiver request to the SBE is a formal document and requires local board approval, a public hearing, and union participation as per Education Code Section 33050 et seq. The CDE mailed the 2006-07 CAHSEE apportionment reports to district superintendents and charter school administrators in September 2007. Accordingly, the CDE has processed reports that were received by the December 31 deadline and payment will be forth coming.
If you have questions regarding the waiver request process, please contact Judy Pinegar, Manager, Waiver Office, at 916-319-0823 or by e-mail at jpinegar@cde.ca.gov. If you have questions regarding the CAHSEE Apportionment Information Report, please contact Shari DalPorto, Analyst, CAHSEE Office, at 916-319-0357 or by e-mail at sdalporto@cde.ca.gov.
