Senate Bill 1108
- The California Department of Education (CDE) will:
- Review and analyze a sampling of local educational agencies’ (LEAs) reclassification policies.
- Assess alignment of these policies to State Board guidelines.
- Analyze student academic performance.
- Issue a report by January 1, 2014.
Assembly Bill 2193
- The law will:
- Provide definitions of long-term English learner (EL) and at risk of becoming a long-term English learner.
- Require the California Department of Education to report numbers of long-term/at risk English learners.

Kindergarten and Grade One (K–1) Early Literacy Report to the Legislature
- Legislation amended in 2007 to require assessment of early literacy in Kindergarten through Grade 1.
- Education Code (EC) 60810 requires a report to the Legislature by January 1, 2013, to determine reauthorization and funding.
- The Legislative Report will describe the:
- Development process of the early literacy items
