Smarter Balanced Interim Assessment Video Series
The interim assessment video series consists of five narrated presentation modules with embedded system demonstrations. Each module is 10 to 25 minutes in length. This video series complements the Interim Assessment User Guide (PDF), which contains more detail for educators using the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments.
The videos in this series were updated in April 2017.
This 10-minute module provides information on the value and usefulness of the interim assessments, the differences between and features of both types of interim assessments, student accessibility supports, and available online resources. Also covered are user roles, their access level, and security considerations.
This 9-minute module demonstrates logging into and navigating the Interim Assessment Viewing System and describes how the viewing system can be used by educators to prepare for the administration of interim assessments.
This 23-minute module demonstrates using the Test Administrator Interface to initiate a test session, approve students for testing, and monitor student status during testing. In addition, the use of the Test Operations Management System (TOMS) to manage student enrollment and accessibility supports and the important role of the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) are discussed.
This 21-minute module demonstrates how to use the Interim Assessment Hand Scoring System and the contents of the hand scoring training guides and exemplars. In addition, considerations for planning the hand scoring of interim assessment items and suggested uses for hand scoring training materials are discussed.
This 14-minute module demonstrates how to navigate the Interim Assessment Reporting System and describes the type of assessment results and data available in the reporting system. In addition, appropriate use of interim assessment results is discussed.
